Tuning your Shopsmith Dust Collector for optimal performance:

The Shopsmith DC-3300 Dust Collector requires practically ZERO maintenance. The Main Housing contains no user-serviceable components. Here's what we suggest:

  • Any time you notice a drop in collection efficiency -- Tap the Filter Hood to dislodge the dust build-up inside.
    • NOTE: If you're generating a lot of fine dust, you may have to tap the Hood more frequently to ensure the maximum collection efficiency.
  • Every time you change Collector Bags - Tap the Filter Hood to dislodge the dust build-up inside.

Washing the Filter Hood
The Filter Hood may be removed periodically and washed, in the event it becomes soiled and/or clogged. It should be hand or gently machine washed in COLD water, using a mild detergent. Line dry or tumble dry on NO HEAT.

IMPORTANT: BEFORE removing the Filter Hood, remember to tap it several times to dislodge the built-up "dust cake" into the Collection Bag. Failure to do this will result in large quantities of fine sawdust being discharged into your plumbing.

Cleaning the Dust Collector
The remainder of the DC-3300 Dust Collector may be cleaned with a sponge or cloth that has been slightly dampened with a soap and water solution. Be sure to wipe or dry all parts thoroughly.

If you're having problems with your Shopsmith Dust Collector, start by referring to the Troubleshooting Chart in your Owner's Manual. If you are unable to find the solution to your problem there...or of you don't have an Owner's Manual, please feel free to call our TOLL-FREE Technical Services Hotline at 1-800-762-7555 for assistance.
