Chamfers consist of beveled edges on exposed surfaces. To be fully effective, the chamfers should have smooth flat surfaces and sharp edges. This can be accomplished better with a Disc Sander than with the saw.

The upper surfaces of much furniture have edges and corners relieved by chamfering. These include table and bench tops, fence posts, rails, and balusters.
