Panel Jig Assembly -

Here's
a simple jig that you can use with your table saw to help
you create simulated raised panels. This jig straddles the
rip fence and hold your stock securely as you cut the bevels
for our panel.
First,
cut all parts to size. Drill the adjustable clamp holes as
shown 2" apart. Use glue and screws to assemble all parts
except the vertical strip. Glue fine grit sandpaper onto the
face of the jig. (This jig doubles as a tenoning jig by gluing
the vertical strip to the back edge.) This strip must be mounted
with glue only as screw or nails might interfere with
the blade.
To use
this jig, tilt the table 5-degrees to 15-degrees -- the greater
the tilt, the narrower the bevel. Place your stock in the
jig. Put the mounting bolts as close to the panel as possible
and tighten.
The sandpaper
will also help keep the panel in place. Place the rip fence
on the right side of the blade and don't sand in line
with the blade. Set the table height so the outside edge of
the blade slightly penetrates the stock. Use a hollow-ground,
fine tooth for smooth cutting combination blade. Turn the
machine off after each pass and reset the panel in the jig.
