Got a benchtop scroll saw, grinder or other tool that just won't stay put during operation ? Try this simple trick.

Position your tool on the benchtop where you want it for use.

Mark the locations of the tool's base holes on your benchtop and install 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 threaded inserts into its surface. If your tool doesn't have base holes, either drill some or mount a small piece of plywood to the tool, first.

Use ordinary bolts with washers (or plastic knobs with threaded studs) to bolt your tool (or its plywood base) to these inserts prior to use.
