Tip #217
Trick for sanding small, flat surfaces

Often, sanding small, flat surfaces on a power sander can be risky…for a couple of reasons.

First, it can be difficult to grasp small objects safely without getting your hands or fingertips in harm's way.

Instead of using power sanders, try laying your sandpaper (grit-side-up) on a known, flat surface. Then, grip your project with your hands (or a clamp) and rub it back and forth across the sandpaper.

This approach will help you maintain the true flatness of your project component and keep your hands out of harm's way, too.
