Description:
This joint consists of a tongue in one piece of stock and
a groove in another piece of stock that fit together to form
a secure joint. The grooves and the tongue are generally made
in the center of the edges of the stock.
Use:
Tongue and groove joints are widely used to join flooring
and siding. In addition, they can be used in the construction
of drawing boards, table tops, etc., that must be built up
out of several boards to achieve the desired width. The same
technique can be used to make slides for drawers, sliding
window screens and many other items.
