Because
the bandsaw cuts easily through thick stock, it's possible
to preshape a block of wood and then resaw it into separate
pieces that will be duplicates of the original design.
The shape
of the piece that is needed is drawn on one surface of the
thick stock. The shape is then cut out on the bansaw. The
shaped piece is then resawn (Figure
14-32). Follow the procedures for "Resawing" earlier in
this chapter. It's generally a good idea to leave enough extra
stock so that you can sand the resawn pieces smooth.
