- Depending
on the angle of the burnish, scraper must either be held
flatter or more upright to produce shavings instead of dust.
- A dull
or unevenly burnished edge will also make dust instead of
shavings.
- After
scraping machine marks, wood blemishes, etc., scrape to
the sides, front and back of this area to avoid creating
"dips." Note: Hand Scrapers (properly sharpened) will leave
a smoother surface than 220-grit sandpaper.
